3:19 pm	february 2nd also February 2nd went to a conference at Colloque Panorama near Charles de Gaulle-Etoile. It was about natural gas.. relating to the price and also the natural gas crisis with Russia, the Ukraine, Georgia, etc. Also went to a meeting about electricity held at the Embassy in the Talleyrand building by Jim McCarthy. Today got project to work on energy articles and to work on power point presentation for French-American relations. (Comment on this)

8:19 pm	January 26 Ken Merten and Tom White brought me a project to do, they want me to write a Paris Point, which are daily news headlines on the Classified system. I learned how to use the classified systems today, how to read cables, and search for them using Lotus Notes. I did a bit more research on France Telecom, and edited the 16 page CV of Jacquillat Bertrand to 2 pages. I went to EASE and rented videos and bought baby powder. (Comment on this)

12:01 pm	jan 25 At work, Valerie gave me a bunch of articles to work on about France Telecom. Told me comments about how to improve on my posts. The other day Ken gave me an assignment to write a paragraph about that humanitarian aid figures that i researched before. said it "was perfect work, thanks." saw otto in EASE.. weird, he didn't say anything. signed up for the gym earlier and worked out on the 24th. it was good. there was nobody there, and i ran about 30 minutes on the treadmill and did a few weights. i listened to bob marley and chilled a bit. it was very laid back. 11:44 am	Day 3 - recieved classified hard drive from gail on the 3rd floor. guy came down and gave hard drive and had me sign paper acknowledging the classified password. learned how to use key on hard drive. that's it. - attended meeting with ken merten with all the head officiers in the embassy. meeting with american ambassador to france, craig stapleton. just gave review to everyone about head lines of important events and objectives - do independant research on france telecom industry, french energy issues, and french defense industries - telecom industry: vodafone, sfr, orange - france telecom expecting excessive fines from regulators. they do not obey regulations and do not forewarn regulator of upcoming promotions. FT expecting slow growth, poor growth for years. losing money because of cost of implementing new bundled services ("triple play") which has cheaper costs for consumers, consisting for unlimited ADSL, cable,and unlimited phone calls (Comment on this)

11:40 am	Day 2 - recieved another ssignment to determine amount of humanitarian aid provided by france after the tsunamis, pakistani earthquake, and hurricane katrina. will use figures in a memo and cable for ken merten, will eventually help in writing them - attended meeting for revisions of science and agriculture global issues, to promote voluntary performance goal paper. ---> target, performance ratings, etc. (Comment on this)

11:38 am	First Day - met with HR jennifer martin, got pictures taken for badges, took security online test about safe online practices - met everyone in the department - econ hierarchy,5 economic officers on same level whoreport up 1 to ken merten, who then reports to thomas white, economic chief officer - read through sample cables and economics issues - read french newspapers (Les Echos,le figaro) - both americans and french foreign nationals work in the embassy (Comment on this)
